Beachy, Textured Hair for Summer!
Look like you walked right off the beach this summer with effortless-looking waves. No need to worry about smoothing every last strand in place with this summer look! The waves may look effortless, but you’ll need to put in a little work:
Verb Sea Salt Spray ($14)
This is great for both straight and wavy hair! For straight hair, spray it on dry hair before curling for texture. If you have wavy hair, apply on damp hair and scrunch while blowdrying.
Monat Reshape Root Lifter ($36)
This is an amazing revitalizer — spray on damp hair, then blow dry your roots with a round brush for maximum volume and hold. Monat is sold by independent consultants, so contact me and I’ll get you in touch!
Nume 22mm Classic Wand ($50)
Using a wand instead of a curling iron makes the process of making waves go by a lot faster. Wrap small sections around the wand, leaving 1-2 inches at the ends to create a casual wave. Curling the entire lock of hair will give your curls a more formal look, so leave 'em out for a messy look. After your curls cool, finger comb through your hair to loosen them into waves.
Pro tip: never pay full price for Nume tools — research and check for specials and coupon codes!
Moroccan Oil Texture Clay ($26)
Before setting with hair spray, I use this to add some hold and texture. Warm a bit of product up between your palms and scrunch through, focusing on the ends.
Big Sexy Hair Powder Play ($17)
My hair is soft and pin-straight, so if I want any volume, I need this! Dust a little on to achieve a worn-in look that holds any teasing in place. When applied to my part and back, I get a little lift. Too much, though, and you’ll look like a pageant queen — not natural.
Beyond the Zone Flexible Hold Hairspray ($9)
After going through all the above, you’ll want to make sure your hair stays in place. Lightly mist your hair with this to avoid weighing your waves down further. Your style will stay put all day after using this!
Though it takes a little work, it’s worth the effort for an all-day, summer-friendly hairstyle. If you want to watch the style in action, Alexandrea Garza has a great tutorial that is super similar to my method:
